Pastor’s Corner May 2013

The following was published in our monthly newsletter, the Redeemer Report.

I want to thank the Redeemer community for the generous and encouraging support for our summer mission teams.

We are sending a team to the Omaha Nation Reservation in NE Nebraska this June and another team to Juarez, Mexico in July.  To pay for these trips, individuals are raising a good amount of their own support, the RPC missions budget is providing some, and we are depending on three church-wide fundraisers to raise the remaining $5000.

After the first two fundraisers, we’ve already raised $6000!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Redeemer!  The money we raise over the targeted $5000 will go back into the missions committee fund for extra giving to our missionaries. It’s such an encouragement to the mission teams, the missions committee, and our church leadership to have you come out and support these efforts in such a tangible way. Beyond the money given, the pancake breakfast and spaghetti dinner events were very well attended and everyone had a great time. The mission team members had a chance to start serving together, as a sort of practice for what they’ll be doing on their respective trips.  Nathan Sato’s creative pancake artistry, Tim Smale’s skillful flapjack flipping, Malcolm Haney’s three helpings of my “heavy” garlic meat sauce, the teens dancing to Louie Prima, and Derek Anderson’s application of whipped cream to his several helpings of dessert were just a few of the highlights from the two fundraisers. When Redeemer folks get together, it’s a fun time.

Life together, worshiping God, serving, and fellowshipping is a source of joy and encouragement for us all.

I know we are all busy with a great many activities, but is it not a blast when we have such times together? I have been at Redeemer for sixteen years, I still can’t wait to get in the car and come over to the church for whatever may be going on. I hope you feel the same way!

As we approach the summer, how about making Sunday evening gatherings and summer cookouts a priority?  The more the merrier, for sure.

In the Lamb,
Pastor Tony Felich
