Sunday Morning Worship 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM
Redeemer’s Youth Ministry exists to serve families by discipling the youth (6th-12th grade) alongside parents so their children may grow in a community of Christians who love to worship their God, study His Word, and proclaim His Gospel to the world. We hope to achieve this goal in various ways:
Weekly meetings
Every Wednesday evening (6:30 p.m.) the youth meet for a time of fellowship and discussion. These discussions are designed to engage with topics/issues that teenagers face today whilst looking to Scripture to help them know the truth more fully, see the underlying falsehoods more clearly, and be equipped more readily to share the gospel. Most nights students will be divided by age and/or gender to have a more fruitful time of sharing and learning.
Every Sunday morning (10:00 a.m.) the youth meet for Sunday School. There are four quarters throughout the year where mature men and women of the church community teach the youth about the Bible and the Christian faith in various ways (Bible study, theology, world religions, church history, apologetics, etc.) Classes are split by grade level (junior high and senior high).
Every Sunday evening (6:00) the church meets together for a time of worship and prayer followed by a time of teaching. The youth come together for a time of learning particularly focused on discipleship. In the summers, there is a time of fellowship where we all come back together for a cookout.
Youth Retreats
Twice a year, Redeemer Youth Group attend retreats where we join with youth groups of other churches in our presbytery (Heartland Presbytery) and set aside a week to study God’s Word, worship, pray for each other and have fellowship. The summer retreat (“SummerLink”) usually occurs in June and the winter retreat (“Winter What?”) in February.
Informal Hangouts
Though we have regularly scheduled meetings, there are a variety of other informal hangouts throughout the year. These may include, but not limited to, mini golf, bowling, board game nights, and various activities in our gym. Sometimes these are done with other youth groups in our presbytery who are nearby.
Resources
As Redeemer’s Youth Ministry exists to walk alongside parents, there are resources available to help parents raise their children in the faith. The youth director, John Choi, plans to provide seminars periodically to better equip parents understand the modern culture and, in turn, engage with their children so that they may mature in their faith. Other resources include, but are not limited to, scheduling a meeting with John, book or video recommendations, or sharing a prayer request.
