The Christ of the Covenants
Led by Elder Mike Pent
Room 43 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
All through the Scriptures, we observe the unfolding plan of God to redeem a people for Himself. At each juncture in redemptive history we see God’s commitment to His people confirmed to them through His gracious covenant. As we study God’s covenants with man, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness to His promises and His unwavering commitment to the “Immanuel Principle: They will be my people and I will be their God.” In the covenants, as through all the Holy Scriptures, we see Christ through whom all God’s gracious promises are “yes” and “amen”.
1 Corinthians
Led by Elder Ben Vos
Room 44 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
The Christians living in Corinth knew themselves to be new creations in Christ Jesus, but were struggling with this identity amidst a prosperous, immoral, pagan society. Sound familiar? Paul gives clear guidance on some difficult issues the church was facing — division, legal disputes, and sexual immorality — and provides godly wisdom on some “real life” questions about marriage, Christian liberty, worship practices, and the resurrection. As always, we find God’s Word to the Corinthian church to be just as applicable and insightful for His church today. Please join us for an interactive, discussion-oriented walk through this important epistle.
Willing to Believe
Led by a rotation of Elders
Room 45 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
Many believe that we are totally free to choose salvation. In Willing to Believe, Dr. R.C. Sproul shows that man’s will is not free but in bondage to sin. He says that we are doomed unless God has mercy and changes our hearts. Dr. Sproul examines the issue of free will throughout history, looking at the views of Augustine, Pelagius, Luther, Calvin, Arminius, Edwards, Finney, and others, demonstrating that some assumptions regarding “free will” undermine the Gospel and conceal God’s glory in salvation.
Mere Christianity
Led by Elder Bob Reymond
Room 46 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
One of the most important Christian books of the 20th century, C.S. Lewis’s classic, Mere Christianity, is a timeless and thought-provoking spiritual work from the author of The Chronicles of Narnia and The Screwtape Letters—one of the leading Christian writers and thinkers of our age. Lewis starts with a brilliant case for the existence of the Christian God and then discusses “What Christians Believe”, Christian morality, and the Trinity. We will discuss where CS Lewis gets it right and where he goes off track.
