Advent 2020

As you probably know, there has been a significant spike in Covid cases in our county and the greater KC metro area. We believe our current practices are being responsible and cautious. We are trying to provide as many of our “normal” ministry outlets as we can, but with some temporary modifications for this season.

For this year’s Advent sermon series, Pastor Tony will be preaching five sermons the reflect the Biblical theme of God’s providence, called “Portraits of Providence”.

Our Confession describes the Biblical doctrine of providence wonderfully –

God the great Creator of all things doth uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge, and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy.

As the providence of God doth, in general, reach to all creatures; so after a most special manner, it taketh care of His Church, and disposeth all things to the good thereof.

(The Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 5, sections 1&7)

In this light, Pastor Tony will provide an overview of five key Biblical figures over the course of the Sundays in Advent and Christmas Eve-

November 29: Abraham- God’s plan is best
December 6: Joseph- Footprints
December 13: Ruth-  Hard Providence
December 20: Esther- Redemption is not Random
December 24:  Jesus- The Fullness of God’s Time

The truth of God’s Word and the attending ministry of the Holy Spirit will always suffice to give us what we need for faith and life. Please pray for Pastor Tony’s sermon preparations and all the ministries of our church.
