When Sinners Say ‘I Do’
Led by Pastor Nathan Currey
Room 43 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
Marriage is the union of two people who arrive at the altar toting some surprisingly large luggage. Often it gets opened right there on the honeymoon, sometimes it waits for the week after. The Bible calls it sin and understanding its influence can make all the difference for a man and woman who are building a life together. When Sinners Say “I Do” is about encountering the life-transforming power of the gospel in the unpredictable journey of marriage. This will be a book discussion led by Pastor Nathan Currey.
The Whole Christ – DVD Series
Facilitated by a rotation of Elders
Room 44 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
Since we’re saved by grace alone, does the law of God have a place in the life of a Christian? This perennial question is essential to answer if we are to be faithful followers of Christ. In this series, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson expands on his book and illustrates the biblical relationship between God’s grace and our work. Dr. Ferguson makes it clear that the solution to both legalism and lawlessness is the same—a right understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Romans
Led by Charlie Long
Room 45 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
This class will be a study through the book of Romans, with special emphasis given to the questions that Paul asks throughout the book on behalf of his readers. As Paul argues from point to point, he knows that the average Christian reader (if he’s been tracking properly) will want to ask a particular question or raise a particular objection at certain points. If we pay attention to these questions, they will serve us as guides along the path of Paul’s argument, showing us whether we are tracking with Paul’s line of reasoning or committing exegetical errors. This method of study can provide refreshing clarity and simplicity to passages that some may find daunting or confusing.
Book Study: Keeping the Heart
Led by Elder Galen Mussman
Room 46 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
“Keeping the Heart, or A Saint Indeed” by John Flavel was written in 1667. God directs us to “Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life,” Proverbs 4:23. This Puritan pastor explains what it means to “keep your heart” and describes why a Christian should make that assignment the great business of their lives. Skeptical? Do a word study on “heart” in the Bible. You won’t be.
