Pastor’s Corner February 2007

The following was published in our monthly newsletter, the Redeemer Report.

State of the Pastors: Morale is High!

With the addition of Mary Greene as our children’s ministry director and Brian Hough as our youth director, I’ve never been more excited about our ministry staff at Redeemer.

This past January 4 and 5, Nathan, Brian, and I took a mini pastoral retreat to a resort in Platte City, Missouri. The purpose of our retreat was to solidify our specific pastoral responsibilities, spend time in prayer, and grow in our personal relationship with one another. The Lord granted us a successful retreat on all fronts. Nathan and I have known each other for almost 30 years, so you can imagine it might be tough for Brian to “break in” to our tandem. On the contrary, Brian fits perfectly and is, in fact, a kindred spirit. Despite being from Texas (there was nobody else available from Buffalo, NY), ha, ha, we believe Brian is a solid brother who like Nathan and I, has married way above his head. In all seriousness, I feel very confident that Brian is on board with Redeemer’s mission and vision and is called by God to minister here, especially to our youth and their families.

The following table gives a general overview of our pastoral responsibilities for your information and prayer.

There are two verses we claim as our “pastoral ministry” verses:

Colossians 1:28-29 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.

We ask for your prayers as we serve under the Great and Good Shepherd, to feed and nurture God’s people at Redeemer.

In the Lamb,
Pastor Tony Felich
