What do we know about Melchizedek before Hebrews?

Why does Hebrews refer to Melchizedek?
I. To Show how Melchizedek was a different kind of priest than the Levites. (7:1-10)

II. To demonstrate significance of Christ being a priest "after the order of Melchizedek" (7:11-20)

III. To assure us that Christ was a priest who would not/could not EVER stop interceding for us (7:21-28)
