The City of God: Books 1-5
Led by Elder Lance Kinzer
Room 43 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
A seminal work by a seminal theologian Augustine’s City of God is among the most important books written in the past 1,500 years. Part 1 of this multi-quarter class will start by asking, with Augustine, “Why was Christian Rome sacked, while Pagan Rome Prospered” and will conclude with Augustine addressing us as pilgrims whose lives are animated by eschatological hope: “But the reward of the saints is far different, who even here endured reproaches for that City of God which is hateful to the lovers of this world. That City is eternal. There none are born, for none die. There is true and full felicity, — not a goddess, but a gift of God. Thence we receive the pledge of faith whilst on our pilgrimage we sigh for its beauty.”
The Book of Job
Facilitated by a Rotation of Elders
Room 44 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
In this series, Dr. Derek W.H. Thomas walks us through the book of Job and considers what the Bible says about our darkest moments. He addresses the difficult question of the relationship between God’s sovereignty and the existence of evil, sin, and suffering.
2 Timothy
Led by Matt Staples
Room 45 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
Join us as we study the book of 2 Timothy. Learn what our Lord says to the church about the critical need to remain faithful in suffering and to deal effectively with false teachers. 2 Timothy is the last letter the Apostle Paul wrote, under a heavy sense of his impending death. In this intensely personal letter, written during his second imprisonment in Rome, Paul provides encouragement and instruction to Timothy, his spiritual heir and protégé who was faithfully serving as pastor in the church at Ephesus.
Changing Hearts Changing Lives
Led by Pastor Nathan Currey
Room 46 in the Lower Level of the Sanctuary
All of us still are people in need of change. God has called us in the Church to be instruments of change in one another’s lives. If you have friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, or classmates that talk to you from time to time about their lives, you give counsel. If you are looking for a way to be better prepared for these conversations this class is for you. In this video class with discussion times, Paul Tripp and David Powlison will provide us with a biblical approach to being instruments in our Father’s hand.
