Pastors & Staff

Pastor: Dr. Tony Felich, B.A., M.Div., D.Arts

Tony-Head-shotI have been ministering at Redeemer since 1997. I became the senior pastor in 2001. I grew up in Western New York where I came to Christ as a young teen. I did my ministry training at Moody Bible Institute (B.A.), Covenant Seminary (M.Div) and Whitefield Seminary (Doctor of Arts in Religion). I am currently studying for a Doctor of Ministry degree at Midwestern Baptist Seminary. The wife of my youth is Shari, we have been married 23 years. She has delighted me with 4 children- A.J. (18), Nico (16), Jordan (14) and Willow (7).

I am passionate about preaching Christ. The bible is about Christ. I want every person to know and love what God says about His Son, our Savior. I also enjoy cultivating ministry leaders and mobilizing people for service in and through the Church.

I love reading, music, good movies, playing and coaching soccer, Sporting Kansas City, the Buffalo Sabres, and bow-hunting whitetails. My favorite food besides various Sicilian delicacies is a big, juicy, Kansas-beef burger.

Associate Pastor: Rev. Nathan Currey, B.A., M.Div.

I came to Redeemer July of 2002 to serve as Assistant Pastor and was made Associate Pastor 2003. I grew up in a Christian home and professed Christ at a young age. I grew up in Western New York and attended Moody Bible Institute where I got a B.A. in Bible and theology, and also found my wonderful wife Janey. I later received an M.Div from Covenant Seminary.  After seminary in 1997, I returned to my home church to serve as the Assistant Pastor for the next 5 years prior to coming to Kansas. Janey and I have four children- Emily, Joshua, Rebekah, and Meghan; that as of this year range from 14-20 years old.

I received training in Biblical Counseling and have been an ACBC (Association of Certified Biblical Counselors) Certified counselor since 2006. In 2009 I had the privilege of starting our Redeeming Grace Biblical Counseling Center. I love to see people transformed by the power of the gospel and I am passionate to see Biblical principles lived out in the lives of God’s people for His glory.  In October of 2014 I had the honor of becoming a Fellow in ACBC.

Outside of my church activities, my life revolves around spending time with family, friends from church and bow-hunting.

Youth Teacher: Aaron Suber

I am new to Redeemer and to Overland Park as of July 15, 2016. I am coming from Mississippi where I was born and raised. Growing up, I was blessed to have believing parents and grandparents who led me to know the Lord from a very young age. After high school, I attended Mississippi State University majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. I received my Masters of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi in May of 2016. My wife Lisa and I met while in Jackson at a local gym, and we have been married since March 28, 2015. Our first born son, Ethan, was born in April of 2016.

My call to the ministry came at a young age, and I have served in many areas of ministry throughout the years ranging from young children to senior citizens. I have a strong desire to serve the Lord and his church in whatever capacity he deems fit.

When I am not working or playing with my son, I enjoy all things outdoors from camping to hunting. During seminary, I also developed a love for CrossFit and weightlifting and can be usually found training for a CrossFit competition, 5k, or triathlon. When it’s raining out, I enjoy sitting down and playing board games with friends, or as an avid reader I am quite content with a thick book, a strong cup of coffee, and a good theological discussion.

Family Ministries Director: Jake Tassy

Serving here since August 1, 2013… By way of Buffalo, New York; North Carolina Charlotte; Quito, Ecuador and now Kansas… a 20 plus year conversation and the providence of God brings me, my sweet bride Katie, and three children: Stephen; Jenna; and Micah to serve. With a background in Education, Youth Ministry, Sports Ministry, Community Development, & International Missions most of my education was on a patch of green grass 120 x 75 yds with two goals and one ball…

Growing up with Pastor Tony and Pastor Nathan makes for plenty of stories and interesting grace filled Kingdom building moments in our hearts then until now. May the Gospel never be dry. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds me of the Source… Micah 6:8 keeps me practical and humble… Luke 2:10 reminds me it’s about the nations… Philippians 1:9-11 helps me try to live within the “best” things…

I love dates with my Katie… laughing & deep conversations with my kids… teaching God’s word (especially what God’s teaching me)… playing & coaching sports (that don’t involve killing something)… and hanging out with extended family especially my one brother.

Church Administrator: Mr. Jon Meyers

For the past several years, my wife Shelly and I have called Redeemer home. We moved to the Kansas City area in 2002, as I took a job in Lenexa. We could quickly identify with Redeemer and its mission to make disciples of Christ when we found that Westminster Christian Academy (now Heritage) was a ministry of Redeemer. As products of Christian Education ourselves, it was easy for us to support and love this church. Through the years we found ourselves involved in several different ministries at Redeemer, meanwhile growing in our own walk with the Lord. Through a variety of job changes, I found myself in a job at American Century as a Investment Data Analyst. In an unexpected meeting with Pastor Tony, he showed me a job description for Redeemer’s first Church Administrator. I couldn’t say no and in 2008 I decided to take my talents to the South Building, and have since been serving Redeemer in this role. We are parents to three children, Savannah, Zoe, and Issac.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota.  I am proud to have serve our country in the Army National Guard in Iowa and South Dakota. I love to watch baseball, basketball, football, World Cup soccer, and Formula 1 racing.
